Every leader has a moment like this.
A call ends. A link arrives.
And the only thing left… is to decide.
Jordan reaches out to Evan. Not for permission. For perspective.
What he says shifts everything.
Not with pressure. Not with hype.
Just a story and a single, gut-punching truth:
“I’m more afraid if I don’t invest in them… and they stay.”
In this chapter, Jordan chooses growth — and steps into the room that will change her leadership forever.
📖 Never miss a chapter of Jordan’s story. You can read each chapter in the First in Line section of Ruckus Makers.
The Yes
Jordan sat at her kitchen table, laptop open, Max’s follow-up email staring back at her.
“No pressure. Just clarity.
If this is your time, you’ll know.
Here’s the link to join the Ruckus Maker Mastermind.”
She hovered over the link.
Then pulled her hand back.
It wasn’t fear.
It was the same knot in her chest she’d felt a dozen times this year.
When she wanted to say yes to something for herself … but didn’t.
She picked up her phone and texted: Got a second? I’m trying to decide about the mastermind.
Twenty minutes later, she was pacing her living room barefoot, phone to her ear.
Evan’s voice came through calm and even.
“It’s a good room, Jordan. Changed everything for me.”
“It’s not that I don’t want to,” she said.
“It’s the money. And the time. And … I don’t know, what it says about me if I join.”
Evan chuckled.
“It says you’re ready to stop leading on an island.”
She stayed quiet.
He continued.
“Most leaders think it’s expensive. They’re wrong.
You know what’s really expensive?
Being able to develop yourself and choosing not to.”
He paused just long enough to let it sink in.
“It’s the best money and time I invest in my leadership every week.”
Jordan didn’t respond. So he told her a story.
